The benchmark 16-core Ryzen 9 7950X performance test results have appeared in the Geekbench synthetic test database. Earlier it was reported about the performance in the same benchmark of the younger six-core model Ryzen 5 7600X.

The Ryzen 9 7950X was tested on an ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme motherboard paired with 32GB DDR5-6000 RAM. As part of the test, the processor automatically overclocked to a frequency of 5759 MHz, which is slightly higher than the 5.7 GHz declared by the manufacturer. The Ryzen 9 7950X has 16 physical cores with 32 virtual threads. The current flagship AMD Ryzen 9 5950X and Intel Core i9-12900K processors still have the same number of cores. At the same time, the new AMD chip has fewer cores than the upcoming flagship Core i9-13900K processor. The latter will be equipped with 24 physical cores, but 16 of them are energy efficient and do not support Hyper-Threading.

In the single-core performance test, the Ryzen 9 7950X scored 2217 points. This is slightly lower than the result declared by AMD itself (in the image below). The chip’s multi-core performance score was 24,396.

Since most models of the upcoming 13th generation Intel Core processor series have already been tested in this benchmark (albeit as engineering and qualification samples), the results of AMD’s new product can be compared with them.

According to the latest entry in the Geekbench 5 database, the single-core performance of the Intel Core i9-13900K Raptor Lake series is 4.4% higher. The multi-core performance of the Intel chip is 8.8% higher than that of the Ryzen 9 7950X. At the same time, the new AMD processor is 31% and 47.8% faster in single-threaded and multi-threaded tasks than the Ryzen 9 5950X, and 14.5% and 41.2% faster in the same tests than the Core i9-12900K.

It should be recalled once again that only engineering and qualification samples of the 13th generation Intel Core processors took part in the Geekbench tests. This means that their final performance may differ from that of ready-to-sell consumer options.
