The Chinese company Lenovo has announced a portable computer IdeaPad 5i Chromebook running the ChromeOS software platform. Although Chromebooks have a reputation for being cheap and simple laptops that are primarily designed for web browsing, the novelty is not without interesting features.

The device has a 16-inch LCD display with a resolution of 2.5K, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a brightness of 350 cd/m². A more affordable option involves using a panel with Full HD resolution, a refresh rate of 60 Hz and a brightness of 300 cd/m². A sufficiently high screen refresh rate will provide smoother scrolling when working with web content and comfortable interaction with cloud gaming services.
Customers will be able to choose between versions of the IdeaPad 5i Chromebook with Intel Pentium 8505 and Core i3-1215U processors. Available in 4GB or 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, 64GB/128GB eMMC or 256GB/512GB SSD. The design includes a camera with support for 1080p resolution. The rechargeable battery provides up to 12 hours of battery life.
Connecting to wireless networks is provided by Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.0 adapters. There are two USB Type-C interfaces, one USB Type-A and a standard audio jack. The Chromebook measures 356.5 x 253 x 19.95mm and weighs 1.86kg. The IdeaPad 5i Chromebook will go on sale at the end of September and will start at €549.
